APTA launched the Physical Therapy Outcomes Registry in 2017 to provide a user-friendly system for collecting uniform data on patient and client outcomes. Data will help guide best practices, help providers meet regulatory reporting requirements, generate benchmarking reports, and help shape payment policy.
The registry will provide information regarding practice patterns and variations in care, assess clinical outcomes of physical therapy care, examine associations between care and outcomes, and inform clinical and policy decision-making. Information will be available that will answer questions regarding provision of the "right care to the right patient at the right time." The registry will also provide benchmarking reports to allow clinicians to see how their performance to compares with their peers on a local and national level. These tools will be critical to reducing unwarranted variation in practice and waste, and improving compliance.
